What I Offer:

Basic Training:

One-on-one tutoring, focusing primarily on home computer users, especially those who are relatively new to PCs. If you are somewhat intimidated by computers or have been frustrated by previous tutoring experiences, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by my methods.

I train you in your own home, in the place where you use your computer, and you can count on being the one at the keyboard. And I promise not to try to dazzle you with "stupid computer tricks"! My goal is to help you become more proficient with your machine.

I will train you in the use of whatever version of Microsoft Windows you want to work with including Windows XP, ME, 2000, 98, 95 or even Windows 3.1! I will teach you  how to find and manage files and how to deal with your desktop. I can teach you the fine points of searching the Internet, browsers and e-mail.

Training in Specific Programs:

Microsoft Office:

Basic, intermediate and advanced instruction is available, in the use of Microsoft Office 2000, Office XP and Office 2003 applications including Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.  I can also teach you how to create your own web pages with Front Page.

Other Software:

Basic training in Quicken, Quick Books, Anti-Virus/Internet Security Programs, Macromedia's Dreamweaver MX 2004 and additional applications upon request.

Buying a Computer:

Buying a computer can be very confusing. You can easily end up with a lot of expensive bells and whistles that you don't need. If you're in the market for a new computer, printer, scanner, or PDA, I can advise you on what components and systems will best suit your situation. And once you get that system home, I can help you set it up.

Troubleshooting:

I can help you through a crisis. Like when your printer suddenly stops talking to your computer, or when the sound is there one moment and gone the next. Many times, these situations can be handled over the phone, though I will make emergency house calls.

Virus Cleanup:

Many viruses can be removed without reformatting your hard disk. However, most techs don't want to spend the time it takes to nurse your sick computer back to health. I have experience in wiping out viruses while preserving files and settings. Admittedly, not all viruses *can* be cleaned and sometimes a reformat is necessary, but I'll tell you if the situation is hopeless before I do anything drastic.
